    About

Classic Isle has been created by a team of classical music enthusiasts committed to bringing classical music acts of the highest quality to the Isle of Wight whilst also developing new talent and reaching new audiences.  Now in its third year, the event has moved to its new home, Barton Manor.

Classic Isle will take place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July 2017 with a line-up of diverse classical talent playing from 4pm until 10pm on both days.  Gates will open at 3pm for ticket holders to gain access and settle themselves on the lawn.  Both evenings will close with fireworks.

The atmosphere is relaxed and intimate, as numbers are limited, allowing performers to really connect with the audience.  There is no dress code, but guests like to dress up for Classic Isle.  Hampers, rugs, low seating are encouraged, and it is this quintessentially English atmosphere combined with high quality acts which have generated a loyal following.
This year, we are delighted to announce the Royal Marines Association Concert Band to close the Saturday night with a brilliant “Last Night of the Proms” style playlist.  Led by island-based conductor, Major General Tony Smallwood, the band will be supported by the soulful Medina Community Choir.  Sunday will also enjoy a spectacular finish, with the Irish soprano Margaret Keys, a favourite of past Classic Isle festivals playing a broad repertoire that transcends musicals, opera and classic arias.  New acts include the very talented and engaging Lizzie Ball on the violin, together with acoustic guitarist Morgan Szymanski on the Sunday. Katie Marshall, Michael Christian Durrant and the Bingham String Quartet are now also confirmed.

    Location
Barton Manor is a Jacobean manor house and a former royal estate, owned by Queen Victoria and then King Edward VII.  The listed private home and its gardens, only open to the public on six days per year, make for a magical backdrop to the event.  Set within the AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) guests can enjoy the beautiful borders, boating lake and historic parkland.  There is ample parking as well as a bus stop on the main road servicing Newport, East Cowes and Ryde.

  • Event Cancellation

It is with regret that due to Met Office warnings of extreme weather this weekend the Classic Isle 2016 event will have to be cancelled.

This decision is a last resort, and one we have not taken lightly, but having taken advice from performers, suppliers and the Met Office, we have been advised that the health and safety risks are unacceptable to all concerned.

We want Classic Isle to be an enjoyable and safe experience for both attendees and performers alike, and with the current forecast, this just isn’t possible.

Full refunds will be given to all those who have purchased tickets, and you will be contacted individually to arrange this.

Classic Isle 2017 will be back next year bigger and better than before, so watch this space!

    Ticket Holders

You will receive refunds but please bear with us in the short term to deal more pressing on site and performer issues.

Once again please accept my apologies for the disappointment caused.

    Thank you.

    Paul
